Clematis 'Piilu' is considered by many to be one of the best clematis for containers. It is a vigorous, large flowered variety with the first flush of flowers on the previous years wood in late-spring being doubles or semi-doubles followed by a second flush of single flowers in summer. A very floriferous plant with 8 to12cm blooms developing from top to bottom to cover the whole vine, the flowers are often so dense they obscure the foliage. Raised by Uno Kivistik of Estonia and released in 1988, 'Piilu' will vigorously grow to around 1.5 to 2.0m in height and will make a wonderful eye-catching addition to any garden. As a Group 2 clematis, 'Piilu' will require minimal pruning and is a very easy care and hardy clematis.'Piilu' means "Little Duckling" in Estonian.
