Raised by Frenchman Francisque Morel, this compact, colour rich Clematis claims an intriguing heritage that spans more than a century and includes 2 continents. A probable descendant of Clematis viticella and Jackmanii strains plus Clematis texensis, 'Gravetye Beauty' was given to William Robinson in 1914, who named it after his British manor home. Many upward-facing tulip style flowers in breathtaking ruby red shades, often featuring vivid crimson interiors, subtle pink stripes and reddish brown anthers.
